I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). I am also a Professional Standards Advisor, supporting colleagues at Newcastle University who are applying for their own HEA fellowship.
Current university teaching:
- seminar leader for Social Justice module EDU3002 (BA in Education)
- marking of university students’ work (undergraduate, Master’s, and PGCE)
From 2010-2015 I was a learning and teaching development officer at Newcastle University. My role included organising the learning and teaching seminar series, co-organising the annual learning and teaching conference, and coordinating the university-level teaching and learning funding scheme. I was also the quality enhancement representative for quality assurance processes of the accreditation of taught programmes, and participated in internal subject reviews of teaching and assessment.
In 2013 I was the deputy course leader for the advanced studies in academic practice course for international academic staff visiting Newcastle University.
In 2008 and 2009 I was an English language teacher at Southeast University in Nanjing, PR China. I led two modules each semester for undergraduate students majoring in English. I completed my CELTA (Postgraduate Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) in 2007, and worked as an English language teacher at private language schools in the UK and in China.
I regularly lead workshops and activities about comics.
